All remaining Israeli diplomats get expelled by Colombian leader

(MENAFN) After the Israeli Navy intercepted the Gaza flotilla, Colombian President Gustavo Petro stated the dismissal of the rest of Israeli diplomatic staff.

Petro’s office called for the immediate release of the two Colombian nationals that it confirmed were among the individuals detained aboard the seized boats.

Petro wrote on X on Wednesday “engaged in humanitarian activities in solidarity with Palestine,” he also stated that a free trade deal with Israel was also being ceased.

The flotilla, which sailed from Spain last month, included activists from over 40 nations, notably Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg. As she was among those arrested after Israel stopped several boats on Wednesday’s eve.

According to Israeli officials, the flotilla was a “provocation” intended not for aid delivery, but rather to provide help to Hamas.

The operation incited international criticism and triggered rallies across several nations.
The US withdrew President Petro’s visa last week after he was quoted urging American soldiers to “disobey” President Donald Trump’s orders. He made these comments while attending the UN General Assembly session in New York.
