Musk Labels French Search of X Offices as ‘Political Attack’

(MENAFN) Elon Musk on Tuesday criticized a search conducted by French authorities at the Paris offices of his social media company X, calling it a “political attack.”

The remark came after X’s Global Government Affairs division stated that the raid was linked “in connection with a politicized criminal investigation into alleged manipulation of algorithms and purported fraudulent data extraction.”

“We are disappointed by this development, but we are not surprised,” the statement said, adding that the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office is “plainly attempting to exert pressure” on X’s senior management in the United States by targeting its French operations and employees, who are “not the focus of this investigation.”

French authorities previously confirmed that the city’s cybercrime unit conducted a search at X’s premises as part of an ongoing investigation. The probe, initiated in January 2025, centers on the company’s algorithmic practices.
