SLOVENIA, August 15 - Today's Feast of the Assumption of Mary, also known as veliki šmaren, has for centuries been part of our spiritual and cultural heritage and, as such, an integral part of Slovenian national identity. Numerous churches, pilgrimage routes and folk traditions bear witness to a rich historical heritage and to a deep respect for the values of faith, family and homeland.
