Author Margot Stornelli has released her debut memoir, The Big Red Suitcase, a personal journey through travel, family, cultural discovery, relationships, and the experiences that shaped her life across the United States and Canada.
She was inspired to write her memoir after retirement, when her elderly mother moved into assisted living and her children were becoming parents. These changes encouraged her to reflect on her family's history and create a lasting legacy for future generations.
A major influence on her life was a senior-year student exchange program more than half a century ago. The author describes the experience as one of the best years of her life. Living abroad introduced her to new customs and cultures, created lifelong friendships, and influenced the way she approached adulthood and life across borders.
The red suitcase became a symbol of her lifelong desire to travel, discover new places, and reconnect with family and friends.
