Botetourt County Announces Leadership Transitions
Botetourt County is recognizing the dedicated service of two longtime members of its leadership team as they prepare for their next chapters.
Deputy County Administrator David Moorman will conclude his service with Botetourt County at the end of the year following a distinguished career that stretched three decades. Moorman began his career with Botetourt County in 1995 as Development Services Manager. He later served as Assistant County Administrator from 1997 to 2001 before becoming Deputy County Administrator, a position he has held since 2001.
Moorman’s broad knowledge of County operations and forward-looking approach have made him a valued resource to the organization and the community.
“David has been an exceptional leader and a tremendous asset to Botetourt County,” said Gary Larrowe, County Administrator. “His institutional knowledge and commitment to serving our citizens have had a lasting impact on the County’s success. We are grateful for the many years he has dedicated to Botetourt County.”
Community Development Director Nicole Pendleton will also be leaving her role with Botetourt County. Pendleton has led the County’s Community Development Department, overseeing Planning and Zoning and Development Services since 2014.
“Balancing the county’s evolving needs while keeping the rural character that makes Botetourt special is no small challenge,” said County Administrator Gary Larrowe. “Nicole has helped us navigate those changes while keeping safety at the forefront through strong building codes and thoughtful zoning. She has also brought an innovative approach to modernizing her department, finding more efficient ways to serve our citizens.”
Following Pendleton’s departure on September 30th, County Planning Supervisor Jon McCoy will serve as interim director of Community Development, helping provide continuity for the department.
The County appreciates the contributions of both Moorman and Pendleton and remains focused on building on its strong foundation and continuing to provide high-quality services to residents and the business community.
The County will begin its search process for future leadership appointments and will provide additional information as those decisions are finalized.
