Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin Meets with Deputy Minister of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of Indonesia Edi Prio Pambudi

On September 28, 2026, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin met with Deputy Minister of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of Indonesia Edi Prio Pambudi.

Liu Bin said that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, positive progress has been made in building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future in recent years. As representatives of the Global South and emerging economies, the two countries share similar development goals, extensive common interests and notable complementary strengths. China has proposed the establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization to foster people-centered AI development for the positive and for good, help developing countries share the benefits of AI development and prevent the further widening of the intelligence divide. China welcomes Indonesia as one of the first batch to join the Organization. We stand ready to work with all founding members to actively advance the development of the Organization in keeping with the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits.

Edi Prio Pambudi stated that Indonesia fully endorses the vision and propositions put forward by President Xi Jinping on the development and governance of artificial intelligence, and appreciates China’s initiative to set up the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization with capacity-building as a priority. Indonesia is ready to leverage this platform to strengthen policy communication with China and other founding members and explore more avenues for practical cooperation.
